Student Testimony

Each month I will include a testimony from one of the students in our ministry. You will get to hear how God is working across all the FOCUS campuses and how to pray for them!

Corefa Training

We call our small groups cores. Think about an apple core…it contains the seeds of the next generation. It is also an essential way students are involved in our ministry.

Our student small group leaders then are called core facilitators or corefas for short. Each of these student leaders commits to meeting with our staff in small and large group settings to grow as disciples. This sweet group came back to Dallas early to start training before students arrived on campus.

Weeks of Welcome

Each year our student leaders and staff work hard to make sure that students moving in on campus at UTD have a way to connect with others, make friends, and be invited into core, and one on one Bible studies. This year the team knocked it out of the park with freshman move in parties, UTD Olympics, Paint n’ Sip, Under the Lights Sports Night, Worship Night, and so many more activities for all different interests. Our corefas met so many students eager for community!

UTD Olympics was full of zany activities to help students laugh with one another.

Paint n’ Sip is always a hit…especially this year to escape the 105 degree heat!

The Grove

We had our first large group meeting of the semester on Friday night! Over 300 students came out to hear God’s word and worship Him in song. Our Corefas have done an amazing job of inviting people in, and helping them feel welcome.

Family Time

My twins started 8th grade this year! Keep those prayers coming! We are back in the swing of things with all the school activities. August has been a busy, but rewarding month. I had the opportunity to perform in a play with the absolute sweetest cast at Richardson Theatre Centre. It was so much fun and my costume was delightfully (and appropriately) frumpy!

Prayer Requests:

  • Praise! The Grove is off to a great start!

  • Praise! Our Welcome Week events helped us connect with so many students!

  • Praise! The school year has started well for our little family of four!

  • Pray for our Corefas as they start up their cores this week!

  • Pray for our upcoming Corefa Retreat on Labor Day weekend. Pray that it will be a good time to bond as a team.

  • Please continue to pray for my support raising! I haven’t met my goal yet, but I’m trusting God’s timing. Pray that I could be connected with more people excited about campus missions!
